Dutch Apple Pie

Dutch Apple Pie

Ingredients
Topping
1 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup oats
1tbs cinnamon
½ tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter melted
Filling
9 apples (3 granny smith, 3 gala, 3 golden delicious)
6 tbs butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
½ tsp salt
3 Tbs flour
1 Lemon, juice and zest
2 tsp cinnamon
3/4 tsp nutmeg
3/4 tsp cardamom
1 Tbs vanilla
Instructions

Peel, core, and slice apples into thin slices (approximately ⅛ inch).

Melt 3 tbs of butter in a 12” skillet over med heat, toss in half the apples and cover for 5 mins. Remove cover and continue to cook for an additional 4 mins stirring consistently. Set aside on a sheet tray and repeat with the remaining apples. Allow apples to cool.

For the filling, in a med size bowl, combine sugars, salt, flour, lemon, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom and vanilla. Once apples are cooled toss apples in to the bowl, covering them completely with the sugar and spice mixture.

In a separate bowl combine ingredients for the topping, flour, sugars, oats, cinnamon, salt and melted butter. Mix until combined.

Fill pie shell with the apple mixture and top with the crumb top

Place pie on a sheet pan and bake at 375°F for 45 minutes,

Allow pie to fully cool before enjoying.
